Senior Access Consultant – Philip Chun Accessibility - Sydney

The Opportunity

Philip Chun are seeking a Senior Access Consultant to join our team at our Sydney CBD office.

Reporting to the Associate and working with a collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to work on a comprehensive range of projects as the Access Consultant from project inception to completion. This role will allow you to establish yourself as a leading figure in the industry, developing professional relationships and building a strong client base. You will enjoy the benefit of not only improving your own knowledge base and experience but also being able to mentor and train the other Access staff in the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • DDA assessment and reporting throughout all design stages and the approvals process
  • Carry out site inspections and building audits to a ensure work complies with relevant Acts, Standards and Codes as it relates to people with disabilities
  • Liaise and negotiate with clients, relevant authorities and their consultants to achieve optimum outcomes
  • Providing advice to clients in a comprehensive written and verbal consulting role on DDA issues
  • Preparation of fees in accordance with company structure and client requirements
  • Attend meetings and provide advice on regulatory compliance matters
  • Peer reviews
  • Management and mentoring of a small Sydney Access team, as well as contributing to the national Philip Chun Access team.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field
  • Advanced knowledge of the DDA, BCA and relevant Australian Standards as well as an understanding of the principles of Universal Design
  • Membership with the ACAA (accreditation will be highly regarded)
  • A desire to be part of our team as well as the ability to mentor and train junior staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the client to meet their requirements and DDA regulations
  • Ability to identify and pursue opportunities that benefit the business
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out the day-to-day functions of a Principal Registered Certifier
  • Assessing applications for and issuing Complying Development Certificates, Construction Certificates, Occupation Certificates and Crown Certification under the relevant Legislation
  • BCA assessment and reporting
  • Carrying out inspections and auditing of new and existing buildings
  • Assessment of performance-based solutions on all classes of buildings including liaising with fire safety engineers and Fire & Rescue NSW
  • Providing advice to clients in a comprehensive written and verbal consulting role
  • Preparation of fees in accordance with company structure and client requirements
  • Attend meetings and provide advice on regulatory compliance matters
  • Ability to identify and pursue opportunities that benefit the business

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Registration as a Building Surveyor – Unrestricted with a minimum of 3 years experience at this accreditation level
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of the EP&A Act and EP&A Regulations, BCA (Volume 1 and 2) including documents adopted by reference in the BCA including relevant Australian Standards
  • Superior organisational and communication skills
  • Proven experience working across a diverse range of projects
  • A desire to be part of our team including mentoring and training junior staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients to meet their requirements and BCA regulations

Package

A salary package of up to $220K including a bonus structure is on offer for the suitable candidate.

Relevant industry memberships including training, seminars etc to maintain CPD as well as annual accreditation renewals are also included

Additional annual leave between Xmas & NYE provided.

Building Surveyor/Certifier – Philip Chun Building Code - Brisbane CBD

Philip Chun is a leading multi – disciplinary consulting company providing certification, building code, accessibility, fire and life safety consulting services to the construction and development industry.

We currently have a position available for a Building Surveyor / Certifier in our Brisbane Office.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience applying the Building Code of Australia and Queensland Development Code.
  • Solid understanding of planning Act 2016 and Building Act 1975 processes for certification in Queensland.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage the compliance process for complex class 2-9 buildings.
  • Excellent interpersonal written communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in certification work for a variety of class 2-9 building projects.

An opportunity exists for a Building Surveyor in our Melbourne Airport office.  This is a full-time position with an immediate start date.

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Registration as an Accredited Building Surveyor / Inspector (Limited / Unlimited), however candidates near to registration will be considered.
  • Commercial building surveying experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible but not limited to the following tasks:

  • Liaising with Building Surveyors, Engineers, Builders, Contract Inspectors and clients
  • Managing Building Inspector Schedules – booking, re-scheduling and cancellations
  • Generating and issuing inspection reports and logging reports to VBA
  • Generating and issuing Occupancy Permits, Certificates of Final Inspection and logging permits to VBA
  • Record keeping and data entry of mandatory inspections / building inspector inspections
  • Preparing and issuing documents to council

Essential Criteria
