Hydrant commissioning and flow testing through booster
Philip Chun ESM regularly witnesses commissioning of hydrant system flow tested through booster. The Australian Standard for hydrants AS 2419.1-2005 requires minimum hydrant flow and pressures at the most disadvantaged hydrant outlets when “boosted by a fire brigade pumping appliance (ie. fire truck)”. This is also a requirement in the Australian Standard for routine service of fire protection systems and equipment AS 1851.
In NSW, testing through the booster via a fire truck has rarely been conducted during project handover or AS 1851 five yearly testing. Philip Chun is actively pursuing this requirement on all projects. Please contact our experienced ESM team to assist in organising, witnessing and reporting on hydrant booster commissioning and testing to ensure your assets are certified to the correct standard.
