Access Consultant - Sydney

July 2017

Two positions currently exist in our Artarmon office for Access/DDA Consultants.  This role is suited to existing Access Consultants or Architects, Landscape Architects and Interior Designers who have a passion for access and universal design.

Within this role, you will take responsibility for:

  • DDA assessment and reporting throughout all design stages and the approvals process
  • Advising clients in a access consulting role
  • Carrying out site inspections and building audits
  • Liaising with consultants on DDA issues
  • Attending client meetings
  • Attending industry forums/seminars to promote Philip Chun Access

Desirable Qualifications include:

  • Practical experience as an Access Consultant
  • Knowledge and experience with DDA, BCA and relevant Australian Standards
  • An understanding of the principles of Universal Design
  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills with people at all levels
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with ACAA
  • Drivers Licence
  • Eligibility to work in Australia - 457 Visa applicants can apply

Cadet Access Consultant - Brisbane

Student / Cadet Building Surveyor - Sydney

A vacancy exists to join our Building Code team with the position based in Sydney. As a lead consultancy in this field of work, we offer an opportunity to be involved with a wide range of, challenging and exciting work. Our consultants deliver high quality, prompt and comprehensive regulatory advice to support our client’s meeting regulatory obligations.

To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building) (Honours) at (UoN) or equivalent tertiary course of study.

It would be advantageous to have some experience or knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

To be considered for this position you must possess:

  •  A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.
  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Computer and keyboard skills with knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software.
  • Driver License.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diligently undertake the approved course of tertiary studies that will provide a Building Surveyor degree qualification.
  • Progressively acquire a basic knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and other legislation relative to building development.
  • Progressively acquire those skills necessary to assist in the monitoring of annual fire safety statements issued under the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000.
  • Progressively acquire those skills necessary to assist in the assessment, approval, inspection and certification of building development under the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
  • Client liaison, problem solving and technical/project management of projects.
  • Undertake other building surveying and regulatory duties, as directed from time to time.

Student / Cadet Building Surveyor / Certifier Brisbane

A vacancy exists to join our Building Code team with the position based in Brisbane. As a lead consultancy in this field of work, we offer an opportunity to be involved with a wide range of, challenging and exciting work. Our consultants deliver high quality, prompt and comprehensive regulatory advice to support our client’s meeting regulatory obligations.

This position would suit a person currently studying a Bachelor of Building Surveying, Bachelor Urban Development Majoring in Construction Management or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) or the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Working with clients, councils and Philip Chun employees around the country your responsibilities will include checking and inspection of commercial and industrial building projects.
