Philip Chun is a multi-discipline consultancy providing advice and design support across all aspects of building regulation and control, including: building design certification; building code, fire and life safety advice; accessibility advice; and the assessment and evaluation of essential safety measures.

A vacancy exists for a consultant to join our Access team with the position based in Brisbane. As a lead consultancy in this field of work, we can offer an opportunity to be involved with a wide range of varied, challenging and exciting project work. Our consultants deliver high quality, prompt and comprehensive regulatory advice and design support in order to meet our client’s regulatory obligations.

Duties

Within this role, you will take responsibility for:

  • Depending on the candidates experience, includes the assistance with or Management and mentoring of the Access team with consultants based in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
  • DDA assessment and reporting throughout all design stages and approval process
  • Advice to clients in a consulting role
  • Carry out site inspections and building audits
  • Liaise with consultants on DDA issues
  • Attend client meetings
  • Attend industry forums/seminars to promote Philip Chun Access

Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years practical experience as an Access Consultant or Architect /Designer
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with DDA, BCA and relevant Australian Standards
  • An understanding of the principles of Universal Design
  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills with people at all levels
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with ACAA, AIBS and RICS is desirable
  • Drivers Licence

Building Surveyor/Senior Building Surveyor - Sydney

Philip Chun is a multi-disciplinary consulting company providing certification, building code, accessibility, fire and life safety consulting services to the construction and development industry.

We currently have a position available for a Building Surveyor/Senior Building Surveyor in our Artarmon office.  This is a full-time role with an immediate start date.

To be considered for this position you must possess:

  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years practical experience as a Building Regulations Consultant or Accredited Certifier as required in either Local Government or private sector.
  • Registration as an Accredited Building Certifier – Building Surveying Grade 2, however consideration will; be given to candidates near to registration.
  • Preference is for an applicant who possesses good demonstrated experience in completing certification work for a variety of class 2-9 building projects.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the day to day functions/role of an Accredited Certifier and Principle Certifying Authority.
  • Prepare and issue inspection reports
  • Assessing application and issuing Part 4A Certificates as required under the EP&A Act and Regulations.
  • BCA assessment and reporting, including carrying out  inspections of buildings.
  • Advice to clients in a written and verbal consulting role
  • Assessment of performance based solutions on all classes of buildings including liaising with fire safety engineers and Fire & Rescue NSW.
  • Auditing of buildings.

Administration/Technical Assistant – Sydney

We currently have a position available for a fulltime Administration/Technical Assistant in our Artarmon office. This role will ensure that all administration and technical assistant duties are carried out professionally and efficiently. This will include, but not limited to, the scope as defined below.  In addition, this role will also be supporting the office with their administration needs and priorities.

To be considered for this position you must possess:

  • A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.
  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants.
  • Excellent organisation skills including the ability to multitask to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Computer and keyboard skills and fully competent in the use of the Microsoft office package and Outlook.
  • An understanding of database systems with a preference given to persons having used Deltek Vision previously.

  • Review of Request for Tender (RFT’s) by private and Government sectors and prepare and issue relevant Fee Proposals.
  • Reviewing of Consultancy Agreements and Contracts issued by clients to ensure consistency with the Phillip Chun Fee Proposal.
  • Typing letters and reports for the Technical team
  • Undertake data entry as required.
  • Maintenance of soft and hard copy file system as required.
  • Other tasks as required to assist in the approvals process and office management
  • Answer overflow inbound phone calls and undertake reception duties as backup.

Trainee Building Surveyor – Sydney

Trainee Building Surveyor - Sydney

We currently have a position available for a Trainee Building Surveyor in our Artarmon office. To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building) (Honours) at (UoN) or equivalent tertiary course of study.  

It would be advantageous to have some experience or knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. 

To be considered for this position you must possess:

  • Diligently undertake the approved course of tertiary studies that will provide a Building Surveyor degree qualification.
  • Progressively acquire a basic knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and other legislation relative to building development.
  • Progressively acquire those skills necessary to assist in the monitoring of annual fire safety statements issued under the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000.
  • Progressively acquire those skills necessary to assist in the assessment, approval, inspection and certification of building development under the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
  • Client liaison, problem solving and technical/project management of projects.
  • Undertake other building surveying and regulatory duties, as directed from time to time.
