Building Code Consultant / Accredited Certifier - Brisbane

Philip Chun is a multi-disciplinary consulting company providing certification, building code, accessibility, fire and life safety consulting services to the construction and development industry.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Building Code Consultant / Accredited Certifier to join our Brisbane team.  In this role you will work closely with the management team including Accredited Certifiers to provide Certification and BCA consulting services across a diverse and exciting range of project work.

Duties

Within this role you will take responsibility for:

  • BCA assessment and inspection of buildings.
  • Advice to clients in a consulting role.
  • Assessment of performance based solutions on all classes of buildings.
  • Auditing of buildings. 
  • Mentoring of cadets and building surveyors.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years practical experience as a Building Regulations Consultant or Accredited Certifier is required in either Local Government or private sector.
  • Registration as a Building Certifier Level 1 however consideration will be given to candidates near to registration.
  • Preference is for a Certifier applicant who possesses good demonstrated experience in completing certification work for a variety of class 2-9 building projects.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field. 
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with application of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Experience with projects incorporating BCA Performance Solution is preferred.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.
  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.  
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with AIBS or RICS is desirable.
  • Computer and keyboard skills with knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software.
  • Drivers Licence.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia - i.e. you must be an Australian Citizen or a Permanent Resident.

Salary Package

Trainee or Junior Building Surveyor - Sydney

Philip Chun is a multi-disciplinary consulting company providing certification, building code, accessibility, fire and life safety consulting services to the construction and development industry.

We currently have a position available for either a Trainee or Junior Building Surveyor in our Artarmon office.

To be eligible to apply for this role, you must either be currently enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building) (Honours) at (UoN) or equivalent tertiary course of study.

It would be advantageous to have some experience or knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

To be considered for this position you must possess:

·  A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.
· The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants.
· Excellent organisation skills.
· Computer and keyboard skills with knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software.
· Driver License.
· You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Diligently undertake the approved course of tertiary studies that will provide a Building Surveyor degree qualification.
· Progressively acquire a basic knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and other legislation relative to building development.
· Progressively acquire those skills necessary to assist in the monitoring of annual fire safety statements issued under the provisions of the Environmental      Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000.
· Progressively acquire those skills necessary to assist in the assessment, approval, inspection and certification of building development under the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
· Client liaison, problem solving and technical/project management of projects.
· Undertake other building surveying and regulatory duties, as directed from time to time.

Student / Cadet Building Surveyor/Certifier - Brisbane

A vacancy exists to join our Building Code team with the position based in Brisbane. As a lead consultancy in this field of work, we offer an opportunity to be involved with a wide range of, challenging and exciting work. Our consultants deliver high quality, prompt and comprehensive regulatory advice to support our client’s meeting regulatory obligations.

This position would suit a person currently studying a Bachelor of Building Surveying, Bachelor Urban Development Majoring in Construction Management or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) or the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Working with clients, councils and Philip Chun employees around the country your responsibilities will include checking and inspection of commercial and industrial building projects.
