Cadet Building Surveyor – Brisbane

Philip Chun is a multi-disciplinary consulting company providing certification, building code, accessibility, fire and life safety consulting services to the construction and development industry.

We currently have a position available for a Cadet Building Surveyor in our Brisbane office. To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Building Surveying, Bachelor of Urban Development majoring in Construction Management, or equivalent tertiary course of study.

The ideal candidate will have some experience or knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and the Planning Act 2016; a desire to grow into an important role in the construction industry; and an ability to multi-task in a dynamic team environment.

  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Computer and keyboard skills with knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diligently undertake the approved course of tertiary studies that will provide a Building Surveyor degree qualification.
  • Progressively acquire knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and other legislation relative to building development.
  • Progressively acquire those skills necessary to assist in the assessment, approval, inspection and certification of building development under the Queensland Building Act.
  • Client liaison, problem solving and technical/project management of projects.
  • Undertake other building surveying and regulatory duties, as directed from time to time.

Access Consultants x 2 – Sydney

Philip Chun is a multi-disciplinary consulting company providing certification, building code, accessibility, fire and life safety consulting services to the construction and development industry.

Positions currently exists in our Sydney office for two (2) Access Consultants.

Both positions are full time, permanent roles.

Within this role, you will take responsibility for:

  • Assess building designs and manage projects to ensure work complies with the relevant Acts, Standard and Codes.
  • Prepare access reports as required to satisfy client requirements.
  • Carry out site inspections to ensure work compiles with relevant Acts, Standards and Codes as it relates to people with disabilities.
  • Complete physical access audits and design reviews of existing buildings to assess compliance with the BCA/DDA and associated legislation.
  • DDA assessment and reporting throughout all design stages and the approvals process.
  • Liaising with consultants on DDA issues.
  • Preparing fee proposals.
  • Attending client meetings.
  • Attending industry forums/seminars to promote Philip Chun Access.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Ideally a minimum 2 years practical experience as an Access Consultant.
  • Knowledge, experience or desire to become experienced with DDA, BCA and relevant Australian Standards.
  • The ability to work within and manage a highly motivated team of consultants.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills with people at all levels.
  • An understanding of the principles of Universal Design.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with ACAA.

Senior Building Surveyor – Melbourne Airport, Tullamarine

We currently have a position available for a Senior Building Surveyor in our Melbourne Airport office.  This a full-time role with an immediate start date.

To be considered for this position you must possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years practical experience as a Building Surveyor Unlimited or Accredited Certifier as required in either Local Government or private sector.
  • Registration as a Building Surveyor Unlimited.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.
  • The ability to work within a highly motivated team of consultants and provide leadership to junior staff.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with AIBS is desirable.
  • Computer and keyboard skills with knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software.

  • Carry out the day to day functions/role of an Airport Building Controller.
  • Prepare and issue building approvals and inspection reports.
  • BCA assessment and reporting, including carrying out inspections of buildings.
  • Advice to clients in a written and verbal consulting role.
  • Assessment of performance based solutions on all classes of buildings including liaising with fire safety engineers and relevant stakeholders.

We currently have 3 positions available for a Trainee Building Surveyor in our Artarmon office. To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building) (Honours) at (UoN) or equivalent tertiary course of study.

It would be advantageous to have some experience or knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

To be considered for this position you must possess:
